Why advertise the fact that you are 24/7 Sameday Couriers if you are not?
At the very least ANSWER your phone, even if you are not able to take work on!
This is not necessarily aimed at anyone on here but over the last few months it is amazing how often this happens [and we tend NOT to sub much work out].
Yesterday we called one chap who did answer his phone but said 'what now? can't I do it tomorrow?'
24/7 ?

I think many feel obliged to say they are 24/7 as its what is expected....the same can be said of offering different services such as overnight.
RAPID LIGHT TRANSPORT LTD.
Disagree!
What's the point in saying you are 24/7 if in reality you only wish to work 9-5 monday to thursday and 9-12 on a friday!
So you WANT to work 24/7?...lol....No I don't think you do....you, like everyone else, including us advertises the fact, but do you really want that call at 0300 in the morning?....are you really geared up for 24/7 work, or do you just have a divert to your mobile once you leave the office, answer that call, which happens once in a blue moon, then ring around or stick it on an exchange site in the hope someone will stick in a quote and cover it for you.
I would rather work more sociable hours...I don't think anyone really WANTS to work 7 days a week, unfortunately cos of crap rates and the state of the economy, the big boys charging ridiculous rates and fly by nights undercutting everyone, we all have to work longer hours, advertise ourselves as 24/7 365 to merely get by.....
Drivers subbies or what ever we like to say ,, No people in general these days are weird !!!!
I want to swear but the man that owns the internet said I cant .
We always used to be 24 hours everybody used to be but now for some reason its all a big deal and nobody wants to know .
We always had something in place for out of hours . Coompanys would ring around all us subbbies on the Friday to see who was available they would not wait for someone to phone in the middle of the night then start to panic !!!!
I myself being a small vehicles company always made sure one of us was sober just in case we had to drash on for any reason but theses days weirdos taht all I can say !!!
I meant small 3 vehicle company (some times more )
I think people adapt to what it is that's needed.

Speed Couriers. You seem to know alot about how my business works LOL
No point in progressing this topic anymore!
Is that because I have the audacity to disagree?...lol
RAPID LIGHT TRANSPORT LTD.
Can't edit posts on here it seems, anyway I did state in my original post that RARELY do we sub work! On the ODD occasions I wished to, was what my post was about.
If you needed a plumber in the middle of the night one would expect an answer or help if they advertised as 24/7. I have no problem with anyone wanting a 9-5 job, I don't blame them, but all I was saying is if stating your 24/7 surely that's what it should mean, at least by answering the phone even if unable to help!
Is it not equally as annoying to be waiting for the phone to ring during office hours,,,whether you're a Courier Company or a one man band?
Yes fustrating to not get an answer its true, but not totally unexpected is all i'm saying

I'm guessing the work wasn't out of the Nuneaton area or you just didn't see me in the directory?? HSP can testify even if you call me at 10pm on a Friday night when I've just checked into a hotel for a weekend of debauchery, if you need the job doing, I'll get it done...
