any advice please?
I know there are various sections involved as well as the basic coarse,

If it were me i'd sub it out to an ADR driver, and if its less than 10kilos you don't need adr drivers anyway. Is it worth the £250 per driver to get the certificate?
two points.. where do you get 10 kilos from.. and also please find me a course for 250 quid!
if i were you, id not take on a contract you have no expertise in.
just my point.

ADR is not simple and you will need a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) by law, cost of this must also be factored into your costings as well. Without referance to the current 2011 reference books for thresholds it is not possible to give a '10kg doesn't need ADR' general response as all UN numbers have different risks.
Well you can take me literally if you like...it was a guestimate based on what I was told a couple of years back but here ya go http://altrainadr.co.uk/prices.html and where exactly does it say i'm looking at getting into this line of biz?.....no...it doesn't does it...cos i'm not!!!
I did an ADR 5 years ago. The cost was around £500,and it's 2-3 days. You would need to factor all the time off and cost.

Take a chill pill Speed - not flaming you.
I have done ADR and DGSA qualifications in the past year so am fully up to date with this topic.
thats better from JSD...some useful advice instead of someone purely pickin holes in someone elses thread...what is it with some people!!!!...this is an exchange site where vendors look for drivers to cover work, and drivers for work to quote on. Winding up others is not way of getting work so why do so many do it?
Hey Dash i wasn't aiming my rant at you...lol

I'm glad, didn't think I had been too controversial with my first posting :-)
ADR is complex EVEN after you've read thru it all....and it keeps changing which doesn't help.

I had an email from the HSE and I didn't have time to look through properly,
but it would seem that if the sample is classed as for diagnostic it moves from cat A to cat B the same as blood samples so no ADR is required as long as it is packaged to the correct standard,

still very confusing!!

ADR Work is very complex , and the under 10kg myth can prove deadly, for instance 10kg of a Class 1 ,explosives,is within scope ,providing certain criteria are met , 10kg of a Class 7 , Radioactive ,is almost certainly ,perhaps maybe in scope. This is where your DGSA ,earns their money ,generally around £500 per year. Best advice I can give is sub it out to an ADR driver. But then I would say that , because its what I do .
