Which are the best companies to do work for?
I found that printers and the local Joe Blogs running a small business from home earns me more than the bigger companies.
What's your feel on this?
Be very wary of printers they tend to go bust ALOT .. Ive had a few go on me 1owing upwards of 30k ...
It's very subjective.
Printers = heavy handballing and slow payers.(not all of them mind).
Big corporate can be envelopes and small boxes, Some slow and some fast payers.
Some bigger companies make you wait 30 - 90 days for payment.
Ebay jobs cash but some heavy bulky items requiring 2 men.
As always there's good and bad aspects
Be very very careful with printers..as has already been mentioned...they go bust a lot
and i've found printers use you for a while...then go AWOL (using somebody else) so as to keep the debt ongoing.....once they've taken the piss with 2 or 3 carriers they'll come back to you, and so it goes on
I have now no printers on my list, last one went bust last year thankfully owing me nothin
And whats more frustrating is they go bust owing all there suppliers money, Then open up again using slighty different names .
.
Thanks for the advice.
I have one printer on my books, but know he is rolling in it. He is like you say, slow at paying though.
I want to know which companies to traget in my local area for business? Which ones are the best to work for in all areas mentioned. Paying on time and good quality work.
Its all just a gamble any business can go pop on ya, You just need to keep a strict credit limit on all of them. Unless they are that big they cant go bust. So the big computer companies are great they spend a load of money and Never quiery any invoice .
Which computer companies are worth contacting or are you talking about computer repair businesses on the high street?
Thanks for the advise.
It kind of depends on your capabilties and fleet size and your location. Pointless trying to get into HP with one van. your best bet is to go onto Yell type in the kind of business you are looking for in your area then approach them .
Thanks for the advise.
How's business?
Its been a slow start to the year so far, But last february was the same . Hopefully march will be better ...
I've recently wondered about targeting estate agents although I'm not at all sure if there would be any call for it. Do any of you guys have estate agents on your books?
I can't see much from an estate agent unless it's some urgent docs to be signed for the money transfer, I also find there's not too much accountants work since everything went online.
Hey there's no harm in trying though , Give it a shot.
in regards to estate agents, also try solicitors . i know a couple of couriers who also happen to have trade clearance permits ( £160.00 for 2 years i think ) as times are hard there can be work from the 2 mentioned type of clients due to house clearances not only do these couriers get paid for clearing these houses but many a time make extra cash from sending said items to auction or selling them privately.
eBay is looking better and better for me, especially as my out of work nephew is going to be helping me with two-man jobs.
Quote: Nottingham and Derby Couriers
The quote facility didn't work very well there!
