I just saw 5 identical jobs come up on Courier Exchange from different courier companies, Why? Where are they originating from?

Could be a someone ringing round for quotes and the courier co's are putting it up for sale before they get it confirmed?
Deadline Despatch
That's what I thought originally but the companies posting them are from all corners of the country
Dunno then, a bit like different courier companies posting identical jobs on Courier Exchange and mtvan... "Ith a mythtery" as toyah would say

Lol yeah I think you are right. Unless they all get notifications from someone like Dropit Hideit Loseit or TNT
Esi Logistics
Just a thought but maybe one of the nationals offer it to say 5 vendors who all post it on Courier Exchange and whichever one comes back with the lowest quote gets it. Ive had it before where ive quoted and the vendor says hang on ill go and see if my customer is happy with it, and im thinking surely if the vendor is selling to a end user they have already told them the price, agreed to do it and then put it on Courier Exchange to get covered.

I would say there are 2 possibilities, both involve the customer probably making multiple phone calls to freight forwarder/clearing houses etc:
- The customer has rang up wanting a price that no courier company can offer, unless they are sure how much it will cost to cover the job first. Or they are simply collecting prices and have made it clear they will take the lowest offer.
- The customer won't book until the courier company can guarantee availability of a courier and a confirmed ETA

Happens all the time. Don't try to analyse it. Just stick in your quotes and go do it for which ever one offers you the job.

I wasn't looking to do the job I just wondered if there was something I was missing. If they were all local to each other it would tell me that 1 customer was just getting prices from local companies but these guys were all over the place

If it's going to ST postcode then it is inbound DHL jobs to JCB, they put it out to several companies most of whom are on CX

Yes, JCB jobs to Rocester/Cheadle, happens all the time, its a race to the bottom, I just ignore them nowadays.

Thank you guys that makes sense
Some Companies that use national companies will contact them all can ask for prices, as some people have regular users before they post

Before now I've had five different companies on CX post the same Plymouth to JCB. I just quote the same price to all of them and one usually ends up giving me the job. I can only assume that JCB fishes around for quotes and gives it to the company that puts the least mark up on top of what I've asked for.
Wellington to cheadle fishing trip on at the moment!!
There continues to be an outbreak of this practice. One of the big companies is giving the same job to 4 or more of their service suppliers. Just been the same job on CX x4. All par for the course at the moment. My view is that the market is shrinking. The big boys are being required to source value for money on their sub contract work. Thoughts please. Happy days Tony
I call it a farce
