July has been the busiest month for us so far, just last week we were averaging 23 sameday jobs per day, so far this week it is 19 per day. No sign of things slowing down just yet, actually hoping for a quiet day soon !
i thought my 4 drops today was good im in awe 23 jobs thats going some !

Dont be thats not one van!
We have done 162 jobs today. 144 next day deliveries and 18 sameday deliveries. June was the best month this year and July looks like its not far behind.
Its all relative innit....used to do over 400 when i was controlling in the cab office!!!
That must of been very stressful.
You needed to know exactly where everyone was, how long a journey was likely to take, and set up the next lot of work for each driver and being none computerised local knowledge was essential otherwise you'd soon run out of drivers. Stressful yes, but in a good way. The buzz you get from getting the maximum number of jobs with as little dead mileage as possible. A good controller is worth his weight, gives the drivers faith and means you maximise their earnings too.
think im lined up for 3 tomorrow in London .

seriously thinking about joining CX to see if it helps bring in any extra work as at the moment 'im getting a couple a week, luckily i have a full time job i'm couriering around but it shows me i really need solid regular loads, may even have to look for hermes or royal mail stuff.
021 SAMEDAY

well i joined CX but not sure if its any good, lots of problems with the way the site works or should i say doesnt work, errors all the time.
Most sameday courier work is for NOW....rarely prebooked and that is why CX has work for NOW and that is why the vendors, such as us need it covered quickly...within 5-10 mins

i get that same ay stuff is urgent but im sure companies understand that you may need 30 mins to collect, they cant believe you have hundreds of vans all sitting around just waiting.

When the customer asking for asap collection thats what they mean, if you're 30 minutes away and the closest then thats the best that can be done however with my work the difference between 15 & 30 minutes would have meant the customer missing their flight after absent mindedly leaving their passport behind.

...and yes when its quiet they do have vans sitting outside regulars
MyVanCan
I would imagine that a lot of the jobs on cx are those which a company has taken a booking for and tried to cover but their van got held up, so then they post it, which obviously leaves less time for picking it up.

just found out most companies sit there drivers around near sites they do most work for, means single man operations will find it tough to beat these guys as if you have the one van you can only be in one place, the companies will always have someone closer, may have to re-think my strategy on getting jobs.
Within the hour is ample for most collections

One man bands simply couldn't compete with the larger companies for sites your describing where they have vans sitting outside, and probably wouldn't want to at the rates they've gone down to
