I'm posting this to clear up any confusion and to explain what I understand to be the situation regarding LK Worldwide. There's a lot of rubbish being spread by a few in particular both on and off the site. They're doing nothing but creating confusion and panic for others, so any alarmist meaningless speculation will be removed.

LK Worldwide has been hit by bad debts more than once recently and are to enter liquidation. As you may be aware LK Worldwide (as the name suggests) dealt with international shipments. LK Worldwide is not the same company as LK Freight which is (as far as I'm aware) UK only. LK Freight is not entering liquidation so I expect you to be able to trade with them as normal, with any of the normal precautions you take.

I will post again if I receive any more useful information. For those hit by bad debt owed by LK Worldwide, I expect there will be an opportunity to recover some of what you've lost from the liquidators. This is something you should be investigating.

Please feel free to post on this thread if you have something useful to contribute. Please keep anything factual and avoid turning this discussion into a slagging match, I don't want to have to lock the thread.

I have this minute tried to call LK Worldwide and the phone was answered as "LK". When I asked for "LK Worldwide" I was promptly told they are no longer trading.

OK, so LK Freight is happy to do work into Europe. The point is if you did some work today with LK Freight, your contract is with LK Freight. As LK Freight is not entering liquidation, it should be business as usual (literally).

You did jobs for LK Worldwide on the 10th and 16th of January, when they were not in liquidation. Unfortunately they now are. It's unfortunate for you (and I sympathise) but businesses going under is something all people in all industries have to deal with.

If you think there is something illegal about LK Freight and LK Worldwide being two separate businesses offering slightly different services then you should speak to a solicitor (not rant on here). As it stands right now, you worked for LK Worldwide which is bust. LK Freight is a separate business that you have done no work for.

Please take note: Any further posts of the nature you have posted will be removed without notice, they are helpful to nobody and will not help you.

I can understand the fustration of the poster of this thread as it seems that there were 2 x companies under the same umbrella and although one has now gone into liquidation, the other is "taking on" the work the other used to do....not illegal but damned annoying for those owed money. I'm afraid venting your spleen will do nothing regarding your debt, and may actually get you thrown off this site, but I think we are now all aware of the situation and will tread carefully.

Naming and shaming is generally not allowed in any forum, although we all know it goes on.
I would concentrate your energies on talking to the liquidator in question, and submitting the relevant forms to them, eventhough it's very doubtful you'll get anything i'm afraid.
Bad Debt is regretably part and parcel (no pun intended) of running your own business.

You've already asked this question and I've already answered it for you. To quote myself above... "(I) tried to call LK Worldwide and the phone was answered as "LK". When I asked for "LK Worldwide" I was promptly told they are no longer trading."

I can understand your frustration, but LK Freight is a different company to LK Worldwide. LK Freight is not some kind of phenix company either, they've been around 38 years (IIRC). I suggest you go down the proper channels to recover some of your money from the administrator. If it were me I'd also consider staying amicable with Gareth. I obviously cannot speak for him, but as he knows you've lost out previously when dealing with him you may find you benefit from some goodwill that goes some way to make up your losses. Good luck.
