Hi Lee, There is no best all round van. You need to choose between small, medium or large. Small is a Renault Kangoo, Transit Connect, etc and they can make between 40 and 60 mpg depending on speed. Small Transit and Mercedes Vito sit in the middle 30 - 50 mpg. Jumbo Transit, Iveco Daily, and Sprinter are the biggest and use 15 - 40 mpg. Fuel consumption mainly depends on your right foot. A Sprinter will destroy a tank of gas at 90mph, but I have seen 50mpg tailgating an artic on the M5. A small van might cost you 20 pence per mile to run. A lot of people want to pay only 50ppm, I do not see how you can make a living charging below 70ppm. Rates have not gone up in ten years, do not expect to make a fortune in this business.
