Hi most jobs I do are paid 30 days from invoice or 30 days end of month. You need to ask this with the vendor when to quote on a job. I have even see some 45 and 60 days too. As for what you should charge that's up to you.

Depends on your van and income needed Imove. I would like to be paid 7 days from invoice but its upto vendor when you get paid. I have my first load of 30 days end of month invoices due, fingers crossed they all pay.

This is one of the areas people don't think enough about when they start up. Having bought the van, the insurance (hopefully) and a hi-vis jacket you have to think about how much working capital is needed. To make a decent wage most of us have to earn £3,000 - £5,000 a month. One month work and one months waiting means you will need at least two months operating costs if everybody pays on time. Better to say 3 months so you need access to £4,500 - £6,000 to function uninterrupted while your cash flow gets established.

Too many coming into the industry with nothing like that, and that's the problem

To be frank I can't see how anybody can hope to succeed without it but it does serve to explain how so many get trapped into working for peanuts and have the risk of going under if they get one bad debt. There are so many sites encouraging new entrants by misleading them, we could do with a trade association with a code of conduct.

Not a problem Speed, they work for next to nothing then go pop, it just distorts the market making it harder for us to survive.

Couldn't agree more, but it won't happen until something happens that could have been avoided but wasn't
