Anyone see it last night on channel 4?
Thoughts...
Only watched a few minutes but I wouldn't want any that I saw representing me. Did the with Sprinter towing the trailer have an Operators Licence and Tachograph? Doubt it.
Probably quite a good representation of your typical Shiply & Anyvan type jobs from what I did see...
Must watch the rest later for possibly a more balanced view
Didn't know know it was on tv, I do wish you would of told me about it, your communication is not good these days.
No balance, much of the same. How they start bidding at £1500 and end up running for £450, beats me. Portrays us all in a bad light to the public
midlands to alicante - £200! You should see how they got it there!

Here u go gary
Gotta say after watching this, I wasn't shocked really. Typical cowboys on uShip and Shiply type sites.
Not one mention of GIT Insurance.

That's a bit harsh Bud, not "ALL" are cowboys on there, i know of 2 previous owner drivers who now do all their work through these kind of sites and do not even bother with the sameday work. That i guess is their choice to handle the rubbish we don't want to touch or do, shifting cupboards, sofas etc but some seem to make it work and fair play to them. Each to their own, they couldn't make sameday pay just like we wouldnt touch the uship shiply ebay work.
Having said that - i do agree that majority will / would be cowboys with no regards for insurance, customers goods etc.
Whatever you do DO NOT lie the space invaders machines on their sides of backs they are very delicate.
Let's open the trailer at the delivery end TADAAAAA!
And ho many times did they handle the goods
Surely Transporting that AC Cobra mini car with a trailer for commercial gain requires a tachograph and o Licence?

He might have been OK behind the Vivaro just so long as the gross wt of the Van & Trailer & all the load leaves them below 3500 kg - but once he put it behind the sprinter?!

Git wouldn't cover the Robin Reliant, that would require a some sort motor policy IIRC
He would require a tacho towing that combination behind the Vivaro unless its not for commercial gain

I have seen the programme and to be honest, i am registered on these sites. Have been form nearly 3 years. I doubt i have done 30 jobs in that time as the customers want you to work for next to nowt and the cowboys on there dont help either by undercutting the transporters that are finding it hard to get a regular pay day.
I hope this site has a much better customer base that dont want you to drive from durham to colchester for £25!!
who are the best contacts for regular work around ts27 hartlepool area? I want to be able to make a living not an existence.
The Artic with the topiary after 15 hours pocketed £215 after costs (although not mention was made of vehicle cost, insurance etc etc ) he seemed happy but working it out hes done two days worth of hours and could be miles away from his job booked tomorrow, he should be aiming for at least double that running an artic. I was wondering whether he had forgotten about the LEZ

That trailer is not a 750kgs trailer,
Also you have the master with a 3.5t trailer behind it, people using the phone when driving, no invoice's whats the tax man going to say about all the cash jobs

Probably not a 2700 Vivaro either...

I know it was harsh, but I just don't like them kind of sites myself. I suppose you could guarantee at least 80% of members on there don't have right experience plus the right insurances
Hopefully this will show people that when you go for the lowest price the service you get may also be the lowest quality.
What if that trailer left in Spain went missing? What if the buyer of the Invader Machines refused to pay (He would be within his rights)
The first sentence in the intro "There's a gold rush happening in the transport industry" What a load of crap.
It should say "If you have a van, Any van why not try and be a Courier / Delivery business, Don't worry about proper insurances or road legislation, It doesn't really matter.
You can do things your way, Ignore what the customer requires, and hey if you damage the goods just bulls**t them play dumb and you'll still get paid.
Typical reality show, Find the worst perception of an industry just for the ratings.
It wouldn't work any other way. Who would want to watch a courier or courier business do something correctly safely and efficently. That's just boring.
Sadly all you need now is a satnav and a van. When i started in 1990 we had to use this thing made of paper its called a MAP. Now any cowboy can do it

There were plenty of cowboys around doing this before the introduction of Sat Navs.
NOTHING changes
Most only last a few months when they realise how flawed their career change plans really are.
I hadn't seen this before so I looked it up on the on demand.
Bloody hell, what an eye opener.
Whilst I am sure there are plenty of business clients on those sites, I am sure that any of them whom have also seen this program will be looking for a proper courier very quickly. The Glasgow Antique company being one of them.
The way these guys work is way too much hassle for way too little financial reward.
I'll happily stick to my dedicated same day work for which I charge a proper workable rate and earn a respectable living without "needing" co/back loads.
Happy days :-)
If my mrs looked like that i would have left her in the layby with the arcade games (on her back! )

Yeah i could do things with her yum yum!
I was contacted last year by the the production company who makes it. All seemed plausible and a good idea till they wanted to know my rates and interview some of ny customers... SOOO glad I declined reading and hearing the feedback.
As I'm sat on the beach supping ice cold beer that Shiply and Anyvan customers have treated me to I think its brill it shows the cowboys up as it will just mean more and more work for the likes of me who does eBay properly. I must have ignored 200 calls for work whist on the beach (returned with a text)offering me olds to every part of the country and replied to dozens of emails regards work, long may this programme continue and the top ebayer so like me will continue to flourish. Sorry lads got to go as my beer is getting warm :-)

He's not quitting! He'd need to spend a fortune on private surgery, to have the van removed from his arse before he could retire :-).

Quite right Simples, but I still Have 5 holidays a year to pay for :-) so a couple of eBay runs a week should be suffice.

If you listened properly you would have heard that they SET UP a mock auction site, so in reality it bares nothing like true auction sites, its a bit like eastenders or coronation st really ,but then again some dim people still think they are real true to life programmes as well :-)

Les, the programme is using a closed auction (only available to selected vendors) on the Uship site

I'm well aware that it is a closed system Les and what that entails. I still would not go down this route for work.
Notice how low they quote even when it is such a closed competition, how low must they be quoting when it's the usual free for all?
Watched this 3 times now
Yep over loaded on both trailers, the reserve van just happened to have a film crew sat next to him when called ( staged and on the phone driving ) . funny how not a single thing came wrapped in any way
The scots lads on rewatching arnt as bad as it comes across given they made a real arse of it and had the ability to fix it when it did go wrong, the clock however was unforgiveable but then so was the arcade machines and the attitude of the topiary driver, not sure how any of them get repeat business given Mr topiary clearly hasnt heard of customer service ( i know the exact length size and weights i can carry
and yet didnt have a clue what he was collecting or its weight when he landed there !). The trailer being abandoned was unique and the clock owner should seek full costs from these jokers.
Part of me says jebuz wept no buggers going to want to send anything thanks to this program but ill bet more people will be open to the idea of sending stuff one place to the other based on the poor prices.
