maybe OK on cars but does it also apply to other classes such as commercials which we most of us drive?
The bumpf suggests not. They do quite clearly state that their advice only refers to "diesel cars".
It appears to include Class 7 which is a light commercial vehicle up to 3500 kgs
In the MOT testing manual for Class 3, 4, 5 and 7 vehicles it says that for cars that qualify for a full gas emissions test, the MOT tester should check for the presence of a Catalytic Converter. A reason for failure is that a Catalytic Converter is missing when one was fitted as standard. Diesel Cars DON’T QUALIFY FOR A FULL GAS EMISSIONS TEST, only a smoke test and so aren’t subject to the above regulation.
I would say that it would be worth getting a definitive answer from VOSA before dismissing the possibility of not having to replace a stolen CAT.
It's OK he is sat on the munching on his felix turky casserole in jelly so no stolen cat here!!
