"we have just stopped being multi drop drivers for littlewoods. which we have done between us for over twenty years and now feel it is time to cut the strings and go on our own. we are a three man team and would be willing to drive anyware in the uk"

So why did you not answer my phone calls, and texts requesting a collection ETA for a 17 Loaded mile SLV job (73 mile round trip from your location) which you quoted me £55.00 + VAT and I accepted verbally and gave you all the collection and delivery details and collection phone number.

It took you over 75 minutes for you to send me a text saying you decided you couldn't do the job, during which time I had had other options which then ran out of time to catch the parcel company trunk.

This may be how you behave when multi-dropping for Littlewoods but you are now working with Professional Same-Day couriers ! !

I cannot stand let down's. We had a Subby a while back and when we take a subby on one of the golden rules is that if you accept a job then we expect you to complete it unless unforseen things occur such as an accident of breakdown.

Well this subby took on a Mansfield to Leeds for a 10:00 collection, I then get a call at 10:20 saying sorry but a Guildford has come out which pays more so i'm doing that instead.

He called the next day to check if we were busy as he was still waiting for a job.

Needles so say but we don't use him anymore.

That just irritates the crap out of me too, I gave a 'company' a small job a the other week, 28 miles pick up anytime from 9 till 4 deliver by 5.30 payed £25.00

they took the job then decided they didn't want to do it their other customer had changed the time to pick up, £1.12 per mile and they let me down, if the boot were on the other foot I would have done it anyway,

Examples like these should get em chucked off whatever exchange site they're on.

Tiz the only way to stamp out these bad practises and give us confidence in using these sites and the members on them.

Too late to find out after the event

In the old days in the cafes the talk used to be bad payers and slow payers . Bad service appears to be the new problem something I would never have guessed would happen . These sorts of stories are getting more and more and its not just in this industry !!

what a muppet make that 0.90ppm not £1.12 on my last post ,

this why a feed back system is always a good idea, if you going to dick people around with payment or deliveries then you will not stay in business too long,

these things do seem to be more and more common hopefully Jan and Feb will get rid a few!!

We could do with a mistrust button but I guess there will be legal problems. Could we give negative feedback if we have allocated the job? Surely we have the right to know who the "baduns" are?

True Bob...standards of service are falling all over...its got to the stage that you're now surprised when someone can actually do the job they're paid for, and can do it with a smile

cx has the option to put negative feedback AND an official complaint....you use someone, you can see b4hand what their history is, and take a view

Was the job allocated to the member?

I had a Job out of NN14 I called a local courier close by who we have used in the past and was completely satisfied with. Unfortunately they are overworked and was strugggling but did say call back if we really couldn't cover the job.

I found another courier but due to this thread i cannot risk the job not being done.

So if everybody started to use the feedback system it will help all of us, Including weak under performing couriers to either do the job properly or risk not being used at all.

It's worth pointing out I think that nobody can see the feedback you leave (i.e. the other party involved) until either they have also left feedback or the window to leave feedback has passed. This means you can leave accurate (bad if necessary) feedback without fear that you get something similar in retaliation.

Hi Guys/girls This topic has comfirmed my fears about using subbies, like many of you on here, i have spent years building up a reputable company, 21 years to be exact, during all this time i have only used subbies maybe a dozen times, one tried to poach my customer and one that let me down because "my mom had just made my tea, so i thought i would collect the job later!!!) Im sure there are good ODs out there but it only takes one to give me the jitters. My first rant, be kind!!!

Hello Phil, We all run our Businesses differently, and especially at this time of year, its nigh on impossible to cover everything with your own guys.

I have found over the years 99% of subbies or O/D's, know exactly what they're doing, and know that, whilst working for you, they are ambassadors for you and the company they are collecting/delivering on behalf of.

We have been let down a few times, but I can honestly say with the hundreds of jobs we sub out, its a very very small %age, has been sorted out very quickly and has not damaged our reputation at all.

Lets face it you're going to get unforeseen problems every now and then, I find that if you do get a problem, it's how you deal with it, and how quickly you deal with it that counts.

I read with interest your comments, so for the other side yesterday one company whom I sub for came on with a £20 job , 2 minutes later another company rang with a job to Horsham 230 miles. As I had booked the £20 job that's what I did. Moral of story one hour later I got from my £20 customer a job from Croydon to Glasgow at good rates. If you accept a job it's got to be locked in stone.

RGM Courier Services

TLC. I've lost count of the times that's happened to me. Once you commit yourself to doing a job, you've got to bite the bullet and do it. It's short-term thinking to do otherwise. Most companies remember...

If you accept the job then you should fulfil that job...... at the end of the day your reputation as a reliable courier/haulier is on the line.

ZENITH Courier Services

Absolutely. That happens to me too. But I know that if I were to casually let someone down once in preference for a bigger job, it would be the start of a slippery slope.
