Are you on Twitter?

We are and have been for some time. You can follow us @mtvan_com.

You can get some good information about what's going on on the site, new forum threads, new work, and status updates amongst other things.

Are you on twitter? Let us know and we'll follow you too.

If using twitter for alerts would work for you then so would our free email alerts since they both require a data connection. Also, of course there's no vendor details on our tweets.

@couriermx

Not been used a great deal so far on the business account.

Within the week we will have the functionality for followers to get tracking information via tweets AND view our gps tracks / location on our website www.courier.mx

Customers can then see in seconds whether I am available and in the right part of the world for a collection without even having to pick up the phone.

I'm a happy boy!

Finally got the GPS to twitter thing working on my site. Now all I do is click to send the tweet from @couriermx and it starts tracking me and displays live info on a map.

Also if anyone is wondering where in the world I might happen to be today. Either through complete boredom, or to see if I can cover that urgent screamer of a job at short notice for you, have a look here... [link]

Sounds really good, and I like the live tracking map on your site. I guess you're not an iPhone user as I haven't seen you on the courier app yet, but for anyone else who is we are working on some similar tools.

When mtvan tweets the job alerts, is it not possible to also add type of vehicle? Oftentimes, we've had to pull over in a certain area to get access to the website for further details only to find that it was for a larger vehicle whereas we've a small van.

It would help a lot to see at first glance whether the job is suitable or not, and saves us time checking it out further on the website when we didn't have the suitable vehicle in the first place.

Just one of those thorns in the side until you get the Android app developed! :)

Lets see how the next job tweet looks. I have improved the link too...

Twitter is a usefull tool, I called upon [business] yesterday, as I saw through mtvan post that he was clear nr Sheffield heading back to Liverpool backload available (Yes I would pay full rate not backload) as it happens an equirey came in just after he cleared, so called him to clarify, but the job didnt materialise anyway. But the moral of the storey is we dont just use the exchanges or call direct to see whos where to offer work.

Twitter can also bombard you with junk as well, I tend not to follow those that post junk.

Has anyone's courier business actually benefitted from Twitter?! If so, I'll join too!

Did you know that you can actually get free text message alerts from Twitter?

Simply add your mobile phone number and you can select to have Tweets sent by sms, from selective companies/individuals you follow.

I tested it out by following mtvan and then chose to have all their Tweets by text message, and it worked. Every mtvan Tweet was coming through to my mobile, by sms.

All of our job alerts go into Twitter too, follow us @courierexpert

It works very well if you know how to use it, we benefited from a series of jobs to Hamburg and quite a few proper UK jobs (not eBay ) There are however very common mistakes made on twitter, I suggest you follow a few twitter experts to learn from them. Also have two accounts one to network, backload etc with other couriers one to present yourself to potential customers. I don't follow couriers on the latter account why would you?

PS if you want to make a complaint to a large company twitter is the best place to do so, they usually respond very quickly to complaints so public
