I am thinking to change my Fiat Scudo swb which I like. Can do small van and occasional small transit loads, to long wheelbase high roof version. Running costs should be very similar to now, but more floor space. I've missed 4 or 5 runs recently because of floor length. Any thoughts?

Low mileage older style Renault Master LWB standard metal roof would be my choice, Carries 250 kg more weight legally than a Sprinter, but only 3.6 metre loading length and much better on fuel than the new style renault . Will average 35 + mpg with sensible driving.
If I was an O D starting out now I would find the best old bananna type engined transit I could find they dont go wrong much and when they do you can find any part in Europe no finance !!In times of austerity they must put up with an R reg tranny !!!!!
I find my 2003 SWB Transit is a convenient size for a wide variety of jobs, but I miss out on a quite a few pallet jobs by only having a low roof (it's T300, so it'll take 1350kg too, which is handy - and also do 40mpg). And as Barnsley says, parts are cheap.
So I'd recommend it for the length and the max payload, but not the height.
Barnsley, what's a banana engine?!

Think he may mean the old type 'V' engine, also fitted in Sherman tanks and tractors. lol

The R reg transit is the most popular mode of transport in Barnsley!

350 2.2 fwd m/roof will just take 1450 and thats got 500kgs on you
Well I got the info from Parkers...
SWB 2.0TDi (85ps) 300 Low Roof FWD
- 2933 mm
- 1974 mm
- 1974 mm
- 1388 kg
According to this, the payload is actually 1388kg, but I round it down.
Is this totally wrong then?
