Hi Guys, So I sold the Bike wasnt making me enough money plus I was doing to many Dead miles

So my question is what type of van is best for sameday

1st I thought go LWB so I can take bigger loads then I thought well is it worth it if the van is half empty all day

So what would be the best of all LWB MWB SWB Small van Also then there is roof heights

Any help would be grateful

How long is a piece of string? The key thing to remember is that you need to match the load to the vehicle and that the main variable costs are fuel and the driver's time.

We run vehicles with pence per mile fuel costs from 11p to 25p (after deducting VAT)

Have a word with the customers you have done work for in the past and ask what they are short of assuming they are other courier companies, If you got something like a nemo they cost very little to buy and alleged 62MPG will be cheaper to run than a bike, If they are anything like the berlingo should be fine my BL is on 250,000 on original everything apart from clutch and cam belts, servicing takes an hour and around £60 in parts, Try servicing a bike in an hour!

How are you doing too many dead miles? If there are more dead miles in a job than there are loaded you just quote 1/2 round trip miles.

Dead miles was due to the lack of jobs on return journeys I think that was because of working out of London Plenty of jobs going in but nothing coming out

Ive decided to go for a Transit size SWB as it gives me a better choice of work loads I live right on top of industrial site with lots of units also there is 3/4 large companies like Rico DPD and Hermes there and im thinking I maybe able to pick some jobs up from them although im not going to hold me breath

Return jobs are the exception rather than the norm. Jobs should be priced so that you make enough profit with or without a return load.

A different type or size of vehicle will not make very much difference to the amount of dead miles you will do.
