Just how many drivers have a "Live" sat nav? Its an invaluable tool for anyone on the road
Always the same every Friday
Pretty good for a friday. Alternative route is come off at J15 then up A34 and A50 to J17. Live Traffic is worth its weight in gold. There's a new tomtom just come out with free live traffic and free map updates.
Berlingo Enterprise has it as standard :)
Good routes home... East of Bham via A515 via Ashbourne, Buxton... West of Bham A49 via Whitchurch, M56

The new Tom Tom's (400,500 & 600) do not have Live traffic they have RDS-TMC traffic via a connected phone, it isn't a patch on Live traffic
Got a better idea, build toll roads, I would be willing to pay for them.

They aren't the latest Tomtoms. Have a look at the link below. Its got free map updates for life and 3 years Live traffic. Http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009UVXS40/ref=pe2826137130071email1p12ti. RDS TMC doesn't use a connected phone it uses an fm broadcast channel, (Traffic Message Channel). As you say, its not a patch on Live Traffic.
We are a litlei isand with a huge problem, you got it we are overpopulated with people and vehicles, A tom tom will only help you a little bit, the goverment should do the rest, but won't, most European Countries don't suffer like we do, they have toll roads and other sensible rules, we don't and never will, glad my Sameday delivery days are numbered, when I started driving back in 1983 it wad a pleasure to drive, not anymore.

Agree A515 then take A523 Through Leek and drop down into Macclesfield, Poynton taking A555 to A34 Cheadle to M/Cr. This avoids A6 Stockport which can be a Pig. :-)
If im coming from London etc. on a Friday my favourite is up M1, come off at J23A, along A500/A50, A34 to Congleton then stay on A50 to M56. I mostly follow my Tom Tom Live though as it's usually spot in.

I was referring to new TomTom Go 'Live' series as that's what you were talking about, which is the 1005 HDT M (not 1005). The new 400/500/600 use the smartphone as a modem, which presumably you have to pay for the data downloads through your phone contract. They don't use RDS TMC which uses a separate aerial which i had 10 years ago, and were rubbish. I can't say whether these smartphone ones are better than Live traffic or not, as they seem to be using different technology to Live and TMC.

I'm using Co pilot Live on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, works really well and cost 12.99 to download, many worldwide maps and other plugins available. (Android)
Hi DJ. Does it have live traffic info? Just asking because my Tom Tom live subscription is about to run and your Co pilot is cheaper! (I can run it in a 7" android tablet).

Yes its Live if you buy the "Co pilot Live" version but on a tablet it would need a constant WiFi connection for the LIVE content, on a Phone it gets this through GSM 3g/4g. Http://copilotlive.com/uk/satnav/ Price is now £19.99 as they have upgraded it to CoPilot Live Premuim UK/Europe, just checked on website.

I run this also on my Motorola Xoom tablet, you only have to buy it once and you can install it on multiple android devices as long as you log in the Play store with the same email address.

Active Traffic is the Live part of the software and has a yearly subscription of £9.99 after the first year.
Thanks for the info. DJ. That's made it a lot clearer. That looks like the way to go. I always take my tablet with me -Asus Transformer which I tether to my phone for using the Internet so I'd be able to get the Live content.

It has an add on feature which indicates traffic issues ahead on your current route and will swap you to an alternative route if the expected delay is more than your pre-determined maximum.
Fantastic piece of software.
Scott.
