Anybody got any idea of the average weight of a sports tourer type bike also lengh and height thanks.

Anything from 150-350kg depending on engine size, accessories etc as for length and height well now your asking, I suppose going by a Pan its 4.5ft with screen and 8.5ft in length, but my Tiger is taller but shorter and still is a great sports tourier trailie, but why the question, do you have something in mind? Or are you taking one somewhere?

I ask because I have been asked to take 1 somewhere, also I can get 1 to bring back, I have proper brenderup bike trailer that can carry 2 bikes carrying capacity 600kg so that would be more than enough, I bought the trailer last year for £250 but have never used it, ta very much.

No real rocket science on bike strapping two on the bars to front points on trailer, Two on two grab rails or frame at back job done! Don't strap onto foot rest hangers or exhaust mounts as they snap like carrots! don't go too mad on front straps as there could be a danger of popping fork seals, there are some handy straps on flea bay that hook over handlebars to make it easier

You forgot to mention the fairing? Most strapping over the grab rail will rub on the fairing on a trailer, thats if the sports bike has rear grab rails, I'd get someone who knows what they are doing to show you.

Please bear in mind that even bike bike falling over stationary you will spend eye watering amounts of money! As an apprentice I dominoed a whole line of 8 BMW's on the Launch weekend of the K100 (feck me I'm showing my age) handle bar tank, handle bar tank all the way down!

Watch how the Americans do it!

I lash em to the side rail in my van with foam pads all around em, never scratched or damaged one yet and I've moved hundreds.

I had an experience of ergertons in carlisle, damaging 1 spoke on my Triumph Tiger rear wheel, I did try to tell him how to do it correctly, but he wouldnt listen, so it cost him £700 for a complete rear wheel from Triumph, then he let me clamber all over a tilt bed to strap my own bikes down, he shown him the correct way.. Never mind, next time he will listen, but ST1100 are a bit harder to strap down than a naked bike, but dont ever strap down an MV Augustus F4.. It will cost a fortune if damaged.

In 1996 I had neve put a pair of skis on, I went to live in Breckenridge in Colorado, while I was there I learnt to ski, 2 years later I became a ski instructor there, the moral of the story is nothing is impossible.

I'm picking the bike up from a bike shop I'm sure the guy will show me, also I have l been looking on the internet at guides so don't worry yourself.

It wouldnt instill an awful lot of confidence if someone coming to pick up a bike for H&R asked me how to strap it down. You know standard GIT doesn't cover it?

I brought a mates Yamy Fazer back from Spain last year & i put it so the front wheel was against the bulkhead on its sidestand, cable tied the front brake lever, blanket over the seat with a ratchet strap didnt move once! And i used an old length of kitchen top as a ramp worked a treat lol

Always best to use 2 straps comming off bottom yoke one eitherside and tighten only untill the forks just start to compress then 2 more straps off swinging arm at rear and another over seat if you wish, never lost one yet lol. Problem with modern sportsbikes is all that plastic.

What about your insurance you know standard GIT doesnt cover them don't you?
