mtvan text alerts

Those lucky enough not to be in the pub/club or in bed could have taken advantage of a job that popped up after 11pm last night A simple london -bolton job ...did anybody take it?

I got the alert when it was posted, as soon as i got online it was closed. It took me about 1 minute to get online. It would've been handy if it was posted about 5 o'clock as i was in london and i live about 10 miles from bolton so i could've gave a backload price. Shame really

Strange name for a courier owner driver

To what end though?

It does seem a bit fishy posting a job at that time of day that is immediately sold, unless it's purely for invoicing/admin purposes?

The poster of the job appears not to be a courier at all

I take it this is ok then admin?

We have spoken to Ronak about his business, and he regularly uses van drivers to deliver his stuff.

He sees mtvan as a useful way of getting new drivers for his list. Just like finding new drivers from Gumtree ads or whatever.

Obviously mtvan isn't aimed at the end user, as the vast majority of end users want all the extra value that calling a courier company will bring (someone to call if it goes wrong, someone to vet and pay the couriers, the convenience of a monthly account, and so on).

Very occasionally someone like Ronak comes along who doesn't want or need all of that, who has the experience to sort it all out himself, and just likes to use a list of drivers, so we think it makes sense to let him give work to drivers on mtvan.

... Shakes head in disbelief...

So just so as we're all singing from the same hymn sheet... mtvan have no problem letting companies who use couriers join up ? Is that right?

If it is then what are we all doing here?

A major shift in policy by the sound of it, and one that looks like mtvan has just become a competitor to all of us courier companies by offering end users access to the same courier network?!

By allowing end users on this site you will lose any credibility you have

I have a bad feeling about this site if end users are going to be using it as well.

A policy re think is needed urgently. Your members interest should be paramount,

End users on here, surely can't be allowed to happen?

Point taken about the thread title, but I'll let this stay off topic as I think it's important (and I might update the title to reflect later).

People voting yes/no does little to bring any clarity to the situation, I need reasoning. The views posted here seem rational and helpful. Please be reassured that I can see your point of views. I need to talk to some people and will get back to this thread with a clearer answer to the points raised asap (early evening).

Seems to me a business if this kind doesnt want the hassle of employed drivers and be able to get the the job done as cheaply as possible reaping the rewards, which I think is not good for this or any other exchange.

I agree with the previous comments regarding the matter.. As you state MTV is not aimed at the end user.

It does seem a bit short sighted and a major major shot in the foot if what we are reading is to be mtvans new policy, particulalry when the site is beginning to have quite a bit of work on it and a true competitor of Courier Exchange

Personally i think the comment was a mistake, and a serious rethink is about to be announced to stop this becoming a ghost town

Rony Embroidery are no longer on the site. We have never been open to the end user. We take the time to phone anybody that joins and appears to be looking for a courier service to point them in the right direction (always a courier company on mtvan in their area).

In this case though there was some ambiguity as he appeared to be controlling a fleet of subbies. Thanks for the reasoned discussion.

This is exactly why members are asking for some sort of validity for anyone wishing to join is it not?

To prevent not only charlatans scammers and those wanting access to a database to sell whatever it is they have to sell, but also to prevent end users access to trade rates which will be the death knell of us all.

mtvan and all other exchange sites have a duty of care to its members, and that is why i have a problem with this site being an "open" site, whose directory is there for all to see.

It's worrying for all of us who have invested a lot of time and money and made a lot of sacrifices along the way in trying to make our Businesses successful.

Please people, lets think about the bigger picture before we make rash decisions
