Hi, I am new to the site, and I'm not sure if £45 is worth paying to get work. How much work can I be guaranteed and how much money can be made?

Hi Terry,
Welcome to mtvan. We recommend using the site to help supplement the work you already do. If you're new to couriering you do need to put the effort in to gain and maintain your own customers. There is no guarantee of work however most, with the correct insurances and sufficient networking on the site, are easily able to cover the subs.
I recommend you update your profile with photo, description, and insurance details, to enhance your chances of getting work.

Terry, courier work isn't about the money.. Its about freedom, the life on the open road, fresh brewed mugs of tea or piping hot soup. Sleeping under the stars in your iron tent.. Meeting new and interesting people and understanding we are all different and have different needs.. not the money mate

Maybe for some that is true
I prefer the comfort of a hotel, and Starbucks coffee,
Oh yes... the main reason I am running a business though is to make money!
This is the problem I fear why low rates are offered, I think the 'picture' of someone living in their van, crawling along at 50 mph to conserve fuel with a van full of co loaded items is not how URGENT items should be dealt with, and indeed customers would be appalled if they knew this was happening.
Charge what you need to make a living, and forget about the back loads as a matter of fact.
If this was the 'norm' prices would have to go up! resulting in a better overall image

Just take a look at courier work page today and make a judgement.

50 mph at least your not going t get a ticket for speeding
You should NEVER pay money out to get work, however sites like this are invaluable to couriers new and old for tips/tricks of the trade and making good contacts.

I think he was joking RLT! Although with the prices that some companies on here are hoping to get I do see your point. :-)
