Based on the East London/Essex border.

Joined up due to being pretty busy at the mo, and could do with having an platform to cover jobs which i'm struggling to cover. Any LWB O/D that would like jobs regularly (not multi drop!) please contact me.

Pick ups are mainly from IG11 (Barking). Good rates for good workers.

References from local S/E O/D available if required to make sure i'm not a wrong 'un,,,,,,:-)

If you post each booking, then we send text alerts to other members and it goes out to everyone running the mtvan App. If you have an iPhone, we have an App available that you are also able to post work from if you find that more convenient. Just search 'mtvan' in the App Store.

Problem i've got is that this particular customer needs a response time of dabout 30 mins (ish). So I thought to have drivers numbers "to hand" would be quicker/more convienient. Don't think i'm trying to just use you as a way of building up names/numbers of O/D... I'm more than happy to upgrade to 15 month membership if initial response is positive... Hopefully it will be, as mega busy with this customer as well as others.

I will be honest and straight. You may find it hard for anyone to work for you without any proof of who you are, folk are very wary.

I posted a job Thursday afternoon for Friday morning as per my post, I had no takers.

However there are plenty of jobs that receive multiple quotes through the website, obviously there are other quotes made over the phone that we have no way of recording.

I think it's fair to say that the majority of work quoted for is done between members who have some knowledge or each other (and are therefore pre-vetted). The members posting work more regularly than Gas receive more quotes. I think this re-enforces the need to provide thorough information and details about your business.

No problem. I would suggest you do a combination of contacting potential subbies about the work you need covering and post on the site. If people know of you and have already checked your details then I would expect you to receive more quotes more quickly.

Morning, thanks Gas for your imput, altho I should be ok regarding people to work for me. At present I use 5 LWB drivers on a daily basis, 1 sm van and a car driver. Turnover is approx £300k pa at the mo... I just need more reliable LWB! The current drivers have said that I can supply any potential new subbies with their phone number to verify me. Invoice payments are immediate, and i've even been known to pay on collection!

Gas, regarding your problem job of last week, may I give my opinion of why you struggled to cover it... It is mho so please don't get the hump..

SE26 to NW10 might only be 15 odd miles, but it is a NIGHTMARE 15 odd miles.

1st... SE26 isn't a hotspot of industrial estates, so the chanches of having someone local ish is slim, and to "run" there isn't practical.

2nd... This particular journey time is MINIMUM 1and half hours, with the real potential of it being 3-4 hours (I kid thee not!). The non congestion and obvious route would be Blackwall Tunnel, A12, A406... Potential traffic all the way.And still got to get back.

3rd... Putting out the job on Thurs/Fri morning. Most drivers will recognise this job as a nightmare and therefore swerve it due to Friday being the supposed busiest time for them, and "better" jobs "should" come their way.

4th... Sorry, but to charge and quote purely on milage for this journey is wrong. Timing and route in this case is more relevant. (yes, local knowledge is handy!).

I wouldn't have touched this job with a bargepole, if I had to I'd have asked for £80 +... And still hopes I wouldn't get it!

Mark, we are a fairly small but mostly wise bunch here on the forum and we've seen Couriers and Courier Companies come and go

To have so many in such a short time tells a story

You can be over cautious or over cynical at times but you can also be too trusting

More information just makes judgement that more easier don't you think?

Hi PW... GIT will be shown soon (just been advised by helpdesk how to). regarding courier or forwarder question, I myself own a small curtainsider which is fully GIT covered. The other work I sub out is covered by the subbies own GIT (which is checked/logged).

So courier or forwarder? Both I suppose.

I dont think this is applicable to a company / forwarder unless they have employees, PW the problem lies with O/d's and there are some on here who state they have it, but wont update their details, or they will send by email on request, which in the urgent courier game is of no use..
