Not here just for Christmas

Further to a previous poster suggesting he can now charge more due to an "exodus" of drivers that he suggested charge less, It may be a good time to remind those that need to be reminded that although the xmas trade makes us all busier, and perhaps even more reliant on the humble sub contractor to help us all out, it does NOT mean we can be held to ransom.

You can take the short term view and fleece the vendor or end user as much as possible if you like, or you can play sensible and realise that we're not just here at xmas, but 52 weeks of the year.

Anyone trying to be clever may find their phones awfully quiet for the rest of the year as they tarnish their reputation for the sake of one weeks ability to take the p***

Its the same who think they can charge more on a Friday afternoon. You can, but are you going to get anyone wanting to use you again?

I agree with you Rob I had one of my customers ring me on Wednesday to collect from Hull deliver to Driffield a total of 27 loaded mile this morning, told them the price they said that with having to travel to Hull from my home they would pay me £55 so i didnt argue, but goes to show that if you are fair with your customers they will be fair with you,

Rob What I was saying on my previous thread was fact is true 360 days of the year we are constantly being asked to match or beat rates from e, European drivers, the facts are evident the other "posters" have and constantly slate these rates (LOOK IN THE BACK CATALOUGE OF THREADS)or if you wish I will copy and send to you,

The truth from one who has been working in this industry for over 30 years, I am not saying that it is obligatory to "fleece "the supplier if you had read it as it was meant it means, that you and me the humble sub contractor has no need to back track on the rate supplied and not have to constantly adjust the rate to get the work , There are to many "ARSE KISSERS " on this site to give a true evaluation of the situation,

From my experience the week ahead has always been busy and I defy any one to not admit that forays into Europe this and last week are on a round trip basis only and that co loading of goods is happening also loads are being back loaded from Europe when drivers have already been paid "round trip" common sense and economics ,

That is how it reads I myself am working all through the "holiday" period with a pre booked load on the 24.12.13 at a normal rate not a "fleece "the supplier rate. Am out in Europe now and will turn round and be back here on the 27th again on the 31st so The real evidence is there to see From your address I am being presumptuous that you main core business is the air freight arena, and this has had no knock on effects from the tented van brigade, there are not many that are secure 4 cleared and can supply crb checks etc.
