Google Ford Transit Forum might be worth joining and asking surely you can't be the only person this has happened to, there are about 5 or 6 forums so might be worth doing a search of them before asking good luck

Probably just the oil pressure sensor on its way out doesn't sound serious as you describe nothing bad seems to be happening.

Could be the following... Low oil pressure = Lack of oil, lack of oil quality, oil filter blocked, lazy oil pump, faulty sensor = fix is an oil and filter change followed by oil pressure check ( garage job ) if this makes no difference . A garage will then say its the pump or sensor although it may be in your interest to change the sensor anyway as they are cheap plus you get to check the wiring's good while at it --- high oil pressure could also account for an oil light depending on if your van is set up to monitor this. An increase in oil is normally over fueling with fuel passing past the rings, most times its noticed by blowing a gasket or it running like a pile of crap as the crank struggles

Dodgy sensor, great when they let you know of a REAL problem, not so good when they're faulty

Cheers for replies! Been busy today so not had chance to reply to you lot, just had it in garage... STEP 1 drain oil and put best quality oil in and give it a try. If no luck... STEP 2 fit a new oil pump and give it a whirl, if your unlucky (like me)... STEP 3 NEW ENGINE, love it!

Step 1 would always be to suspect the sensor or a short in the wiring loom - a test with an physical pressure gauge would not be a bad idea...

Think on that basis step one would be to change my garage and find a less pessimistic mechanic lol. And deffo agree with 021 about sensor and even go as far as saying change that as a step 1.

Agree chant sensor first it's only cheap so if it isn't that you haven't spent a fortune

Any oil is better than no oil but if you have the choice always use the best and remember there are more engines killed by lack of WATER than lack of oil - Glad you got it sorted.
