Honest opinion, none the sooner they are banned from cars, vans, lorries the better, big distraction.

So do you use the customers phone or one of those telephone boxes you see everywhere to call in POD?

It very much depends on how you operate your business really. I hear so many stories of people having reliability issues with smartphones that if you don't have use for any internet functionality while out and about a basic mobile will do.

No, I have a factory fitted handsfree, but to be honest, your not 100% concentrating on your driving, the day they are banned from vehicles the better, if you want to use it stop, I have had 6 points on my licence for mobile phone use, last time got pulled for texting, 3 years ago, never texted since and only phone in car using voice recognition jobby, anyway phones, I have a htc desire s, best phone I have hsd, probably out of date by now.
Must admit I hate android phones, I have had an S3 which was a complete waste of plastic (much shouting at vodafone later) I now have an HTC Which is bearable but seems to have an annoying habit, if you try and make a call and it is busy doing something random like checking emails etc it will then remember you wanted to make a call and rings out a few minutes later when you have put your phone in your pocket, it's a bit crap on the bluetooth car as well, thank goodness for blackberry! numpty phones does Courier Exchange app and incoming calls, blackberry does the real work!
I have a JCB phone its good I drop it and it bounces
Thats a ball Bob... A phone's that thing you speak into when it rings
I get on really well with my Samsung S3, which I use in conjunction with a bluetooth earpiece when driving. Having proper internet functionality is also great for when you're stopped.
Only problem is, for those few buttons which you do need to press while driving (like answering a call or reading a CX confirmation), it's much easier to operate a blackberry keypad, which you can do with one hand without looking when you get used to it. A big S3 can't comfortably be operated with one hand. Not without making mistakes anyway, and that does cause a distraction.
Just got the Sony xperia Z
Does what it says on the box and in reviews. 'The best Android Phone Yet,
The 13mp camera is brilliant!
Hated my Galaxy s3 and can't get on at all with I phones!

I thought your are a professional driver, if so don't mess with phone while driving, next time you might kill somebody and wreck a family, think i'm been harsh, it happens.

I knew someone would read too much into the words "those few buttons which you do need to press".
If my customer rings me while I'm driving along, and I have my bluetooth earpiece in, I need to press a button to answer the call. How else would you speak to your drivers?I'd hardly call that 'messing with the phone'. Any more than I 'mess with' my radio when I turn it on. Anyway, we digress.

Camvan, its the way you worded it, you sounded like you where messing with the phone constantly, I used to text and all the fandango until I got knabbed, and got the best lecture ever, which I took notice of, I will apologise, but if anybody out there mess about with phones while driving, please kill yourself, not some other poor soul.
No probs AJM. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.
I had a similar wake-up call to you, when I killed a pheasant a few years ago from glancing at my phone for a fraction of a second. Felt horrible, but it was a valuable lesson. It least it wasn't a child.

My phones will be given the chance to bounce if I receive many more damn PPI calls.

My car has one of those with a factory fitted hands free kit that utilises the radio, super phone but no longer cool as my young daughter says. How much weight can an (old) 5 series BM carry?

I'm not going to say which is better or worse as it's largely subjective and dependent on what you've been used to previously. I'd encourage anyone to give the various available platforms a go (borrow someones for a day if you can) to get a better idea of what is going to work for that.
It's worth pointing out though that both the mtvan and the Courier Exchange Apps are available for iPhone. This may be enough to sway your decision.
Below is a breakdown from our analytics of the mobile devices (includes tablets) our visitors have been using in the last month:
- Apple iPhone 37.7%
- Apple iPad 26.6%
- (not set/with held) 10.9%
- Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S3 6.4%
- Samsung GT-P5100 Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 5.6%
- Samsung GT-I9100 Galaxy S II 3.7%
- Samsung GT-I8190 Galaxy S III Mini 2.9%
- Google Nexus 7 2.1%
- HTC T8698 7 Mozart 2.1%
- Nokia Lumia 820 1.3%
- Other 0.7%
l
Galaxy S II is not bad.
I have a Galaxy Note 2, works really well with the handy writing stick that comes with it. Nice big screen for signing PODS.
PB Express
Whilst the iPhone does have a few irritating things that annoy me for site access and notifications etc I've found it to be the best.
