Pitching price

Hello there, I am fairly knew to this. Did some work for TNT but numbers didn't add up. The problem I have is I seem to be competing with services who have more than one drop when they quote so are a lot more competitive than I can be, how do I get into that position where I can acquire more drops?

Hello I think your problem is the unlying problem for most people that have started in recent years. The main question these day are what do you want to be? Do you want to be a van driver or a salesman. I don't think there is a place for a new start that jsut wants to be a driver anymore I really dont. You might as well get an employed drivers job. Last week we took some work on that 15 years ago I would have walked in had a cup of coffee with them and get the work. No not these days a nephew went in with his suit on got the lead and then we went to the meeting together he did well but I was out of my depth by about 10 miles! We will look after this customer and they will be delighted but its increasingly difficult to gain the work if you dont have the skills set for selling. It bloody harsh really! So if you want to be in the position you wish to be in your marketing strategy needs to be bang on and somebody or you has to be a good saleman

I'm a bit confused about this thread

A dedicated sameday courier is exactly that, someone with ONE drop on board who is paid to not fuck about with anything else other than that one delivery

A citysprint sameday courier is a courier that gets loaded up with countless drops with the hope of getting to all the drops by close of play

A Multidropper is someone with a countless number of NEXTDAY deliveries onboard

So which one are you trying to be?

Most of us on here fall into the 1st category, some deal with eBayers, some a bit of both
