Traffic Radio that used to be on Digital and now ceased used to be a great source of information. Is there anything around to replace it? I ask because Radio 2 is useless and there is nothing worse than non up to date info.

Yesterday evening on my way to Dover, the gantry signs on the M1 warned of severe delays m25 jcn 29 to 1a. Radio 2 said 2.5 hr delay. BOTH directions towards Dartford tunnel.

I did think about nth circ rd Blackwell Tunnel and M2 but stayed on m25. Got to Dartford Crossing and no delay!

So frustrating having poor info. Traffic Radio was so good!

There was a lorry accident that day. I passed it on the other side just as the traffic was building up, but to go home i had to go the other way round the M25.

But why is the traffic info so poor, and usually out of date?

Guess as no replies, there is no substitute for the now defunct Traffic Radio!

I don't know what the substitute is. I had a search around when you started this topic. Find it hard to believe there isn't something on either DAB or an online stream.

Likewise, the bullshit often spouted on the motorway overhead gantry signs gets up my nose. Things like lane closed when they're all open, animals in road when there's not a cow in sight, roadworks ahead and there's bloody well nothing of the sort.

And my personal favourite, the signs that tell you there's fog only after you've already been travelling through it for the past several miles. I think to myself... I know there's bloody fog, I can see it, now tell me something I don't know.

I see no ones suggested CB radio.. Is this mode so out of date after 33 years...

Yes, it is really. I had one fitted for a while put hardly ever picked anyone up so it was a waste of time. I was told the only people that really still use it nowadays are the awkward load drivers that need to keep in touch with their escort vehicle.
