I have been asked to price up a job into Scotland for some items which will be at the delivery for 10 hours then require returning back
So would you wait 10 hours for a good 400 mile backload (at back load price that is)

I would have a kip, check out the sites and do the collection.
I'd be happy to do it. Would use the 10 hours to sleep & a bit of down time.
I have done it a few times in France, have a sleep I enjoy it has long has i'm getting paid, the thing you have tocareful of is the ten hours turning into 15, then it gets more difficult.
Its not really a good backload if you're only getting backload price. (50%?) and having to wait 10 hours for it. It depends what time you're delivering. If you can fit in an overnight stay I'd charge for a hotel. Or put the backload on here. In any case, if you have to wait 10 hours its not a backload and should be priced as 2 separate jobs, i would have thought.
Done a few of these and charged out as w&r jobs, ie 10hrs waiting time, 50% backload price! Having been sat in Glasgow since 10.30am today and still have no return I view it as being a better option than dead time/dead miles!
Half fair back plus 10hrs waiting time even if waiting time is reduced makes it a no brainer for me... Unless they're expecting no waiting time, then it becomes a full rate mileage return... Swings and roundabouts. I'd give em the choice.
Max 1hrs wait for 50% after that its full rate.
I never said 50%
This may sound stupid but is it a big van job or small? No where to sleep in my small van, and when is the 10 hours day or night?
Mk to scotland and back is trip in its self let alone without waiting 10hrs personally i would only wait if it was over night for the waiting

I would do the delivery, go home an check out the wife, then go and do the collection :-)

Surely as you state (at back load price) it can't be worth waiting 10 hours which surely would require a hotel and meals etc,
