I looked at joining but having to pay 12 months up front is a bit mad, what if you don't get any work from it! If you could pay month by month I would try it out
I'm sure it's something they'll look at cos you're right, who can afford a years subs in one go... Having said that it does work, you will get work from it (unless you live in the arse end of nowehere) so its a no brainer really.
Just a shame they've had a few issues lately on a Friday!
(unless you live in the arse end of nowehere) I do I live in Essex INIT LOL But you I can see the pros of it, Even 3 months up front would be ok but not the whole year
What I am highlighting is that whilst we were members last year, but let our subscription lapse since the work that was available there didn't seem to fit with our business model, since allowing our subscription to lapse, they are now sending me emails with contact details of jobs which are currently available.
Ie: without being a current member I have received messages with full contact details of currently available loads!
Are they getting desperate enough to openly market jobs to non members?
Do the paid members know they are doing this?
Scott
It's probably due to the problems they've been having over the last week or so and needing to re-route how the alerts are being sent out. Either that or they need more money!
I don't think that technical problems would prompt them to send out job alert emails with telephone numbers to non paying members, so I would have to go with option number two :-)
Scott.
I just wonder how current paying members would feel about this?
Scott.

As one, it doesn't bother me at all
Seems a sly way of trying to get you back... By seeing all the work you're missing out on
I think they'll be having a lot of problems shortly when they launch the new site rob Theres a lot of discontent flying around at the moment

Aren't the jobs cheap enough on there at the moment ;-)
I stuck out for a deal. Owner driver package pay for 3 months got 4.renewal on direct debit 3 months at a time. Say what you like it does work.

It does work and thats why, despite the recent glitches, despite what some say, rates are not silly, jobs get covered quickly and thats what an exchange site is all about
I cant see a problem with Courier Exchange sending out job alerts to non members ...
I'd be quite happy to take full advantage of their mistakes. Its wages at the end of the day and we are all in the buisness to make money.
Maybe they're trying to encourage you back, thinking about long term cash flow and worried that the recent glitches will mean people don't renew their membership and they struggle to pay for the investment in the new site.
OR it could quite possibly be that the system they have put in place in light of the recent events, isn't quite tweaked to how they want and is sending out alerts from a database of both existing on previous members. Pretty sure this will be a fix they would want to put in place and quite quickly to be fair.
Well I'll let you know if the messages continue to arrive HSP, because I don't think it's fair of them to email alerts to non-members (ex or otherwise) when they are charge members such a large sum!

Agree. Something somewhere in there system clearly isn't quite right yet. Perhaps their subscription dates/expiry got lost or corrupted. Maybe they had a situation where they had to roll the database back to recover something lost (and therefore people that should have expired were temporarily 'live' again). Either way, I'm sure it's not deliberate and they'll fix it pretty quickly.
I am also a member of Courier Exchange. I find it a good backup to non Courier Exchange companies I work for. Although they are currently having problems, work availability on this site has not increased, which is what I was hoping for. Given the number of members this site has, I find that rather surprising/disappointing Even with a system that is not working properly they still had 98 jobs for small vans in London and 19 in the southeast.

Courier Exchange should have a lot more jobs on it, considering the price you pay.
Well I haven't received any more alert emails, however they called me this morning to inform me of their current offer for previous members! (6 months free subscription).
I didn't bother asking the price the price as Courier Exchange doesn't fit with our business model, but I did ask for my details to be removed from their system.
Regardless of that I got a call from them again this afternoon.
Told him the same thing!
I reckon I'll get another call in a few weeks time with an even better offer.
Scott.
Looks to me like they are losing members like flies and are getting desperate to resign them.
I'm not surprised! There are plenty of jobs available on there and plenty of subbies who can cover them which is great, but and it's a big but!!. For a website that has been established so long and yet is still so filled with bugs and problems it is hard to justify the price they ask.
Especially when after you first contact them they will contact you 3 times a week to try and convince you to sign up!
In my opinion Courier Exchange is just all about the money.

Of course its all about the money, isnt every business in existence about the money otherwise whats the point? It is still by far the top trade site for our industry and if there is a better one, please show it to me!
As Michael says, although it's been fustrating lately, generally speaking there is no one to touch it.
And as has also been pointed out, when it's not working, no other exchange seems to suddenly get i by default, i reckon they just ring it thru to the subbie and book it on later historically, if at all.
Courier Exchange's motive was NOT to cut down dead mileage, save the world and increase profits for you and I, it was to make money.. They all do it for the same reason
Eco warriors they are not
