Is it me or are standards dropping?
With the ever increasing reliance on technology, the internet and gadgets generally, have we forgotten how to do the most simplest of tasks on our own?
Maybe it's more to do with the older i get the more i notice, or the less tolerant i've become.
Whichever it is, and it may well be a combination of both, it seems my expectations are constantly being tested to the limit. This may or may not be a contibuting factor to the distinct lacking of hair where it used to be, and the increase in words more akin to those heard after the watershed. There are times i witness sideways glances from colleagues and loved ones which i can only describe as a look you may have seen Gary Lineker give to Bobby Robson back in the world cup of 1990 when after a 2nd booking Gazza realised he'd miss the final if we got there, which we didn't. There are times people actually leave the room, as it's probably safer for them to do so.
It seems the simplest of tasks are made over complicated, what used to be a pleasureable experience a chore, and seeing a smile a rarity where once it was plentiful.
I reckon its down to brain overload. Technology moves at such a pace we can no longer keep up. Too much information to take in. We're all beginning to walk around like zombies, unaware of the world we live in, cos we're stuck in our own little bubble of social media, reality tv (now there's a complete misuse of a word) and mindless trivia.
Rant over, i'm now off to bury my laptop in the garden and go build a mud hut somewhere remote
