Hi Darren
I started myself in april and the best advice is do your research first. I researched for about 3-4 months. You could start by looking on the forums on this site and codforums. If you check out these forums, then they will advise you on how to get started and stay away from scams, believe it or not, there is loads of scams in this trade. Good luck in your new venture

Hi Darren, I'm another Darren about to set myself up as a courier but i don't intend starting til April, getting christmas out of the way and then the generally dead months of January and February so i'm on this site getting to know the ins and outs of the trade. Good luck if you decide to go for it. I'm really looking forward to it. Best advice I've been given though is look into it thoroughly, get a good accountant and prepare to work very hard and lastly, if you really want it you can make it work.
First good luck. Second Don't buy a how to be a courier guide.
Yes do your research and be prepared for a long road ahead (PARDON MY PUN) You can make it work if you are Honest , Reliable and committed. Get ready for unsociable hours and long boring journey's Just think it's Friday afternoon, You have just got back from a 5 hour run. The phone rings " Help i have a run to Aberdeen, It's got to be there at 07:00 tomorrow" What do you do?
I only used that example as it happened to one of my drivers last Friday.
