Constructive advice might help him rather than abrupt comment.
If your not already a member, also join Shed5 and Courier Exchange and start networking. The more you get known the easier finding work becomes. Good luck.
Abrupt it may have been but sound advice non the less as you won't get work from here or cx and you won't even be able to join shed5

Is there not much work out of Aberdeen? Seems business busy when I go up.

Hi, Its not all about sitting behind a computer logging onto websites trying to get work. You need to be Pro-Active, Print some leaflets, canvas the businesses in your local area, drive around local industrial estates and introduce yourself, let local people know what you can offer, advert in the local paper. I get more work from returning customers than from anybody else, you just need to get you foot in the door and offer a really competitive reliable service.
ASAP Delivery
You have to consider that if you are delivering business to business then all these businesses already have couriers they use. Knock on everyones door, have a price scheme set out. Unless you get lucky, at best you can get your card pinned to a board and... If they get let down by their regular courier, they might give you a call.
