It seems quiet this week so far,
Anyone else having the same?
A 4 day week, i expect little after a bank holiday weekend, thankfully none now til August
Its ok up here but enjoy the rest. Long school holidays due soon that can go either way.
Theres always a 5 mile and an 11 mile job available if ya dont mind a few dead miles.
1 day closer to retirement.
Retirement? You mean you're not going to work until you drop? :-D

It's always like that after bank holidays, tuesday is hit n miss, but the wednesday goes mad
Had a very busy week last week however, slow one this week.
I think it's a bank holiday and some factories do close down this time of year.
I looked at our historical figures and it's normal.
I've had a busy 1 this week which is unusual for bank holiday week. Manic today tho but struggling to get drivers is the problem for a friday

You can get drivers, but they want more than £1.00 a mile Friday and they need to be home for 7pm to go to the pub
7pm? lol
Not stopped for the month... Turned 3 last minute.coms away today.. All for London from up norf.
Best week of the year so far and Friday wasn't even that busy.
No need to turn em away... That's what this and other exchange sites are for!
I only did 3 days but a good profit on all of them so I'm happy
but struggling to get drivers is the problem for a friday Thats cos ya dint ring me.
No calls either, although i was pretty busy myself, it's always worth a call, you never know
Been exceptionally busy all last month and this month up to now for some strange reason but next week could be dead so making hay while the sun shines

Hey ive been to st leonards, eastbourne and brighton last and this week.. Why dont we double up?.. You go when its raining.. Ill go when the beaches are loaded with bikini clad babes
Done lots of Heathrow and Gatwick AOG's lately with fully paid returns north. (Not off mtvan). As a matter of interest, does anyone get returns when they post empty on here?
Whats a 'return'
A "return", more commonly known as "as likely as a good hair day for Donald Trump" is a term used for those couriers fortunate enough to get a collection going back homeward bound, as opposed to going back empty.
Exchange sites are designed to increase the likelihood of getting a "return" by giving members access to a network of couriers and courier companies. These exchange sites have Courier Companies (vendors) looking for work to be covered and couriers (buyers) looking for work that needs covering.
There is no such thing as a "return" for a vendor, but it has come to be associated with those Couriers near to the vendors collection, who otherwise would be going back empty to where that collection is going to.
As it is a "return" for him, he is able to undercut those local couriers also quoting on the job in question, which is very nice for him, but not so good for the local couriers.
A "Backload" has become the term used by vendors looking to take advantage of this situation, thereby alerting anyone quoting, that it should only be of interest to those going that way with a co-load, or those going back home empty. This allows the vendor to offer a reduced price to his client, or more likely to make more profit.

Very rare Bob! Had one a couple of weeks ago (Not mtvan) that wanted a load from Basildon to Lancaster, 3 plts 500Kgs quoted him £130.00... He knocked me back saying he could get it done for £75 rtn! WTF is doing these jobs?
Chris you were doing him a favour at that price! PS Rob I was phoned up for the returns and offered full rate so I didn't undercut anyone. Any undercutting is usually instigated by the vendor who trying to make more profit out of the courier. ( not aimed at you Rob as I know you're 100% fair)
Maybe all owner drivers should have a protest day and drive up and down the M1 at 30mph? Oh hang on we do that most days anyway? Seriously the only way rates will rise to a point where you can safely earn a living as an owner driver is for all vans to be regulated with a tacho?
I wonder if the government realise the company doing most of the goverment work is only paying their drivers enough to cover the running cost of the vehicles?

I dont do backload rate unless its a wait & return job. Often enough I do get returns once I let the vendors know that im in thete area.

Yeah, here we go with the "Holier than thou" attitude towards the poor subbies who are doing it. No support for the poor sods, let them struggle.
Anybody who is doing OK should be slightly worrying that one of these days the big boys with the government etc contracts might just come along and get all the smaller stuff and put EVERYBODY out of business or into the Expert's rates. There won't be a lot of "Holier" then!
Now let's once again trot out all the old wives tales about quality of service!
They won't get the smaller stuff because 10-15 years ago they had it all... and lost it
