YES i am thinking of setting one up .

i have been looking at this and other sites and also been a member of them all what i find is the price how they all want up front fees from anything from 100 to 600 and the problem is it tends to be the same companys offering the work all the while.if i can pull this of it will  hopefully could be a free site or even a pay as you go weekly site for about £2.50 a week.i just want people advise on what they think how many would llook at joining i think its time that the big c and others stopped making alot of dosh out of us couriers and do more to help find work.

the trouble with offering a free site is the costs of setting one up AND maintaining it do cost quite a bit.The text alerts alone would cost a pretty penny eventhough you can buy bundles...then there's the software itself.Wot happens behind the scenes is more than we can imagine i'm sure.

None i've seen come close to the big un...and that has a proven track record. It is expensive but it does do wot it says it does....

Good luck.

However, if you wanted to break the "big c's" grip on the industry, you'd be best off supporting mtvan or other site, encouraging as many others as you can to too, and putting as much work as you can through it. Fragmenting 'the other' sites further will not result in a successful competitor in my opinion.

"I think its time that the big c and others..."

Please tell me who you think these others are?

Also, £2.50/week is very close to mtvan pricing. Do you think breaking down the cost into much smaller chunks would make all the difference for us?

(interesting topic btw)

yes admin i think a diffrent price stuture is a must a weekly or monthly plan is better the reason is if the sites no good its a bit late when you pay out a couple of hundred quid this way if your on hoilday you dont pay or if you think the sites no good you dont pay i no there is alot of competion out there as for supporting mt van yes i agree but at the same time members on here post work on the shed 5 the big c

I have a few "others" listed in my Browser. Shed5 of course, Courier Gold, Load up, Fetchitnow, Haulage solutions, couriers-united-kingdom. There are more! but the more we fragment the vendors and the drivers the more difficult it will become to cover and obtain work.

Creating another site is not the answer, the nonediscripts just do not work. Improving what we have in direct competition to the "big c" is.

People will put their work on as many sites as they see fit cos they want the job covered asap.

I only use the one as it works...within 10 mins 90% of the time the job's covered and at the right price...my experience of the "others" is they don't work.
You need text alerts with any exchange site as many are out on the road and need the "bleep" of a text to alert them of any work out there.
As for weekly or monthly charges?...just over complicates admin for me.
We can all work out wot £100 a year is or 200 or woteva....
The price charged reflects the standard and amount of work in my opinion...AND the number of Couriers on the site able to tout for said work.
Even £600 a year is less than £2 a day...and if it enables you to cover every single call you get and/or gets you out on the road then i reckon its money well spent.
And as webadmin says...the more sites that appear the more fragmented it all gets.
