Hi Jon is your experience good or bad?
JH Logistics
Hi Phil not a good one unfortunately gone under owing me money. I do believe they are starting again under the name of Phoenix Logistics and more recently Inter City Transport Solutions. Avoid!
I thought that 'naming and shaming' was against the guidelines on here?

It is. Although stating that XXX company has gone under seems reasonable (if it is factually accurate).
JH Logistics, what is it you would like to know from anyone with dealings with Smiths Transport?

Also JH, please provide a Ltd co. number if you can?

I do apologise RAPID LIGHT TRANSPORT LTD I won't mention it again and decide to let others get taken for money. Only voicing my opinion just as others have done with regard to non-paying MEMBERS on here. Website admin they are not a limited company therefore I cannot provide this information.

I thought they were Ltd
JH I am sorry to hear that you have lost money. It is not nice, I have lost thousands unfiortunately over the last few years. I was merely stating what the forum rules state. I am against naming and shaming as there are two sides to a story. I do understand though that it is good to let others know, and maybe help them avoid losing monies too. I know in my situation I have let others know by means of email or phone calls as I thought naming and shaming on public forums is not permitted or a good idea. As admin have stated, in this situation it is reasonable.
Hope you manage to salvage something out of this, it is an awful situation to be in and not a great deal one can do to get anything back.
Good luck

Unfortunately RLT it is too late, I'm not one to bad mouth anyone as, like you say, there are 2 sides to every story but having researched the matter AND visited their "head office" I know that I am not the only one that has done jobs for them and not been paid akin to an earlier thread on this forum (AET Transport?).

Sorry to hear that.
Wish I had something I could say to help you get paid! I know I have chucked good money away trying to go down the legal route, but as mentioned elsewhere, if the culprit says he has no money, in this country there is nothing realistically one can do.
Hope 2013 is a good year for you and you can move on and put this behind you.

"XX courier company have gone under" (if true) is fact not opinion.
"They're a bunch of *****, don't work for them" is opinion and is not permitted.

Somebody here may know better than me, but if 'Smiths Transport' is not a proper company (just a brand name) then you've actually done work for whoever you received the work from who I'd imagine is who you should invoice.
Has the 'owner' declared himself bankrupt?
JH Logistics
The fact that he hasn't answered his phonecalls and the number is unobtainable, there is no sign of them at their "premises", the women in their "Head Office" told me that they no longer dealt with them as they were getting more and more people "calling" to recoup some of their money. FACTUAL enough. The owner hasn't declared himself bankrupt although recently he has been working in a warehouse as an agency worker.

We are against naming and shaming and the forum rules have not changed.
I would not class mentioning that someone has gone bust as naming and shaming though providing it's true (i.e. I can look it up on companies house).

There is no such thing as factual enough. Statements such as "XXX has gone under" is either factual or not.
I would suggest you work out for sure who the legal entity you have worked for is.
If it's an individual or a company, if they have not 'gone under' (i.e. They have not declared themselves bankrupt or are not insolvent) then they still owe you for whatever your agreement was. If this is the case I suggest you go to small claims to try to retrieve what you are owed.
If a company has gone under then you should contact the administrator (and not hold out much hope but you might receive something). I'm not clear on the correct course if you have worked for an individual who has declared themselves bankrupt. If a company/individual has become bankrupt owing you anything it is unfortunate but a legal and real (and if everyone was working in good faith I believe fair) fact of running a business. If you're hit too hard by the above situation I would suggest reconsidering how much credit you extend to your customers.
