The last few weeks there have been an abnormal amount of text alerts for jobs requiring just a car service

Is this really work that a courier is looking for or is there a demand for a sister website called MTCAR? As a sister websitE to MTTAXI

Must admit its a bit farcical getting texts and emails for a 5 mile car job, when I was doing Sameday my minimum for a sprinter was £50 so I don't think I would get many jobs off him, even now for a 5 mile eBay shite job I can get between £20 -£80 and what does he pay? £5-£15? Who covers these jobs for him? Has anyone on here been mad enough to do a 5 mile car job? And if so what are the rates paid?

Well as cars come in all shapes and sizes i would be pretty uncomfortable asking for a car to do a job

More to the point, do these vendors ( whoever they are, I don't know) even care whether they are selling work to someone using an uninsured car as they would be if they were using it for hire and reward without the correct insurance.

I care who I give work to.. and dare say their will be a few others who care as well.. but as they say "you get what you pay for" "pay peanuts and you get monkeys"

Bit like being a one man operated TNT DHL CitySprint etc etc then?

So do we need to buy a tidy van, maintain it correctly, have all correct insurances in place, try to act like a professional and do the job as requested? Nah, just chuck it on the back seat of a 300 squids old banger ..... That's the way to go!

It does make you think. What's the point of running a proffessional outfit when it seems you can get work without.

Would you really call a 5 mile delivery in a car work?

Many of our jobs that are booked as a car, end up being done in a van anyway. We classify a job according to the smallest vehicle it will fit in, but it does not mean it has to be done in that vehicle. As long as your vehicle is the same size or larger than required, then it matters not whether the customer only paid a 'car rate'.

If your signing on the rock an roll and have a Guinness label for a tax disc and you can get a couple of quid that you wont declare then I suppose ... Yes!

Lets face it, its taxi work. Thats the level at which you'd expect to pay for a taxi, then the guy picks up another fare in the next street or sits at your corner til he does. The doesn't get a job in the next street he has top head back to the town centre for the next Argos ladder to deliver
